I have been living a double life lately...
Nah - it’s not that I’ve been secretly working for the Russians or anything - but it’s still a secret.
And anyone who is reading this already knows it!
Some of my friends who probably used to read this website have decided that’d rather just be my friend on Facebook and keep up with me there. Generally things get posted faster on Facebook right, so why bother reading elsewhere?
Well - because I don’t put my entire life on Facebook!
Now anyone who has read this website in the last few months will know - I am rather keen on Nissan G60 patrols - an in fact I now own three!
If you follow me only on Facebook, you wouldn’t know that.
You also wouldn’t know that Chris is living with me as a house-mate now.
Probably two of the biggest news things in my life recently (ok, so I know I’m boring) and you wouldn’t know about them.
Why am I keeping this off Facebook?
Well - for laughs mainly - and to make it still worthwhile reading this blog occasionally.
The really awesome thing... one of my friends, Jason, still doesn’t know that Chris is living with me - and he’s come to play LAN games here twice! By sheer fluke he’s chosen days when Chris isn’t here.
He’s planning to come again this week - and guess what? Chris is away again!
I couldn’t organize this better if I tried!
Anyway - just wanted to say thanks for reading this blog still. You are in the loop on my secrets.
And remember - don’t mention my G60s on Facebook, or you’ll find out just how good my Secret Russian Spy training really is...

On Saturday I headed G60 Spotting at Frankford. I had talked to a bloke on the net who had a few - so I decided to call in and have a chat. 3 hours later I left again - it was quite a good visit.
For people who don’t enjoy looking at old G60s - it’s probably worth skipping this post - as that’s all it is.
This guy has quite a collection of G60 patrols. First up it’s an old blue shorty in many bits. This had a Falcon motor in it.
Next up it’s an old red mid-wheel-base wagon. No engine or front though.
This ute was our transport further down the paddocks to find some more. This is one of the G60s that the guy uses regularly.
The Tip Rat - once again it’s enginless.
This one is missing the entire chassis!
Not a G60 - but something old.
Back out of the paddocks and in the yard - this G60 has been converted into a tow-truck. Regularly used.
This ute is also regularly used. Destined to replace the one we travelled in - this one has a 5speed gearbox! It only cost him a couple of hundred in a G60 he found somewhere - and they sell for over a grand and a half to collectors - score!
And last but not least - this is the one he is restoring. It’s based on the chassis of the one I listed earlier.
And if my count is correct - that’s eight! Makes my three look rather tame.
So has this turned me off G60s? No way.
Has it made me keen to get my shed and get started? You betchya!

Welcome to my new letterbox.
Actually - the letterbox hasn’t changed - but it’s now home to a little red 4WD.
You see - a fair while back I was at my parents place and rescued my old Tonka Jeep that had been left on the lawn after my sister cleaned out one of the old sheds.
I used to love the old Jeep, so I took it home and thought it would look awesome on my letterbox. I still think it would - but it’d also rust fast - and I couldn’t bring myself to do that to the old girl.
So next I hit Chickenfeed and bought a cheap red Jeep to go on the letterbox instead.
I was all set to go until I decided I liked this jeep too. And I wasn’t at all sure that having a car on the letterbox wouldn’t make it a target for vandals. And in my neighbourhood, that’s always possible.
So as a test run - I got another cheap Chickenfeed car. This one is probably mean to be a Hummer - but it’s not very good. But for a test pilot it is perfect.
If it survives for a while, I’ll replace it with the red Jeep.
After all - if a 4x4 nut lives there, you may as well make it obvious.

Every now and then - you feel the irresistible call of the mud.
Time to have a play!
Chris was keen to see how his Rodeo did in mud before he gets better tyres for it - so he can do a comparison.
A short while later: Puddle 1: Chris 0
Look familiar?
And yes, that was ice on the puddle!
But that won’t stop our Chris - nosiree.
I think we should name the Rodeo the ‘Waterhorse’.
It sure likes getting wet.
Reaching for the sky.
Admiring his lack of flex.
More water! Guess where Chris is heading...
Yep - you guessed it - that’s the Lagoon.
The ice wasn’t quite thick enough to drive on.
It was pretty thick though.
Now that’s Ice!
Almost worth being towed out just to find such awesome ice eh?
The Pajero enjoys the Lagoon from dry land.
The "Waterhorse" Rodeo enjoys it from the Lagoon itself.
That wasn’t enough Mud for the day - so we headed up to the Great bend to find some more.
Once again Chris needed a tow.
And another.
And another.
And finishing the day off by Chris getting stuck in the Mersy River. This one was my fault - I’d put his hubs out.
Still I have to make the most of it - when he gets better tyres he'll probably be towing me out!
So back home to do a spot of cleaning. Ah - what a good day...

A suitcase full of Lego!jawaproFri 15/07/2011 01:18 PM
When I was in Melbourne last week - I came back with a suitcase full of Lego. Not that I actually bought much while I was over there - but I collected stuff that I’d bought earlier.
First up we have a heap of awesome Power Miners sets. I never bought any PM stuff when it was available, but the MUGS group (who run Brickvention) have decided to do a large PM group display - so I stocked up on some when Ricky James had a sale a few weeks back. He was able to drop them off with Mike so I could pick them up when I was over. Thanks Ricky!
That would have been more than enough lego for one trip - but just before I headed over, I heard that the LugBulk order had arrived!
LugBulk is a deal where LUGs (Lego User Groups) can buy some rarer pieces directly from Lego. We'd put the order in at the start of the year, but it had finally come through. The Legends at MUGS were able to sort my order quickly so I could pick it up while I was there.
And before anyone asks - I can’t tell you what they cost me - that’s one of the rules of Lugbulk. You can’t sell the pieces or tell people what they cost. But I can say that it’s well worth it if you’re part of a LUG and plan to do some public displays.
I’ve started work on my combined project with Mike for this year’s Brickvention - and the first thing that comes to mind - I didn’t order anywhere near enough LURPs and BURPs! And I haven’t even started on the PM stuff yet...
