Drink and drive....

A Queensland man lost his license for 9 months today after being found guilty of drink-driving.

Nothing unusual about that?

Well no, but he was driving his Esky at the time!

For those foreigners who might not know - an Esky is the same as a chillibin or cooler.

This particular Esky had a four-stroke engine capable of 20km/h.

Considering that these Eskys would normally be used to carry beer - this will probably be more common than you think.

If you drink, don't drive, and don't drive your Esky either.

In need of a shed...

I’m losing my head,
For need of a shed,
Sheds, sheds, sheds...

If you’ve been paying any attention to this blog in the past few months, you couldn’t help but notice that I’ve bought myself a couple of old Nissans that need restoring.

Well - before that can start, I need a shed to work in.

Which sadly is much harder than it sounds.

The logical place to put a shed happens to be over council pipes, so I can’t build there.

So recently I’ve been playing with different sizes and locations - trying to find a place and size that will give me enough shed space, and not totally destroy the backyard, and still get council approval. It’s not so easy - or cheap.

I wish I lived in the country - where people just build sheds when they need them - this is far too much effort.

Bilbo’s Back...

For those who don’t know yet (I only just found out), Martin Freeman is playing Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming Hobbit movies.

He’s a good actor - and with Peter Jackson at the helm again - these movies should be awesome. Who wouldn’t want to watch a bunch of dwarves wreck havoc across Middle Earth!

And there’s more good news. Filming of the Hobbit had to be put on hold so Martin Freeman could go back to England to shoot the second season of Sherlock (he’s Doctor Watson). How awesome is that!

Tribute to the Tadpole...

Just a quick video I knocked up of the 'Tadpole' - Dad's old MQ patrol. This thing was legendary - it went pretty much anywhere - and that was on standard tyres with basically no mods. Probably the best Patrol I've ever traveled in.

It was called the 'Tadpole' because it liked playing in Mud Puddles - and thanks to a lyric in the song that you'll hear in the video. The song is called "Mud Puddle" by Roger Whitaker - and is jolly hard to find (I had to order in an LP from England to get a copy).
