Welcome to my new letterbox.

Actually - the letterbox hasn’t changed - but it’s now home to a little red 4WD.

You see - a fair while back I was at my parents place and rescued my old Tonka Jeep that had been left on the lawn after my sister cleaned out one of the old sheds.

 

I used to love the old Jeep, so I took it home and thought it would look awesome on my letterbox. I still think it would - but it’d also rust fast - and I couldn’t bring myself to do that to the old girl.

 

So next I hit Chickenfeed and bought a cheap red Jeep to go on the letterbox instead.

I was all set to go until I decided I liked this jeep too. And I wasn’t at all sure that having a car on the letterbox wouldn’t make it a target for vandals. And in my neighbourhood, that’s always possible.

 

So as a test run - I got another cheap Chickenfeed car. This one is probably mean to be a Hummer - but it’s not very good. But for a test pilot it is perfect.

If it survives for a while, I’ll replace it with the red Jeep.

After all - if a 4x4 nut lives there, you may as well make it obvious.

If you're upgrading your mailbox, perhaps a stouter stick may also be in order?
