Thanks to Loopy for pointing this out!

There's a new episode of Wallace and Gromit on ABC tonight at 8:30 called "A Matter of Loaf and Death".

And to make things cooler - Australia is the first place in the world to get it. The Brits don't get it until Christmas. But here in Australia, we get it almost a month early.

Sorry for the late notice - but if you get a chance, watch ABC tonight.

Hiding in plain sight....

Why did no one tell me this was here?

I went to the local Cashworks 2nd hand shop yesterday during lunch to buy another fan. My house has a tendancy to get very hot if it's sunny - and with 4 extra geeks and at least 4 extra computers - it's only going to be worse. So I decided to be nice and get an extra fan for them (I'm keeping the one that's currently pointed at my computer desk).

After collecting the fan, I found myself on a street I don't normally travel on (in fact I might not have driven it since I moved here) and decided to find my way back from here.

So I headed along the street next to the Mall. I've often been halfway down here to go to the chickenfeed.

On one side was a camping shop, and the other side was a shop with statues of lions and things in the window. I thought - they look like the ones in Pearts in Launceston - and I looked up and saw the shop sign.

I think I would have fallen over if I hadn't been sitting down.

There's a Pearts in Devonport!

Where did that come from? How long has it been here? Is it as good as the one in Launceston?

Pearts is a little like Chickenfeed, but with lots more souvenirs and statues and things. They also sell pretty nice model cars.

But the reason Pearts is so cool is watches.

Cheap watches. I think 90% of my watches have come from Pearts. You don't worry if they break if they only cost $20 to start with. I have broken watches a couple of times - including smashing them into laptops (while wearing them) by accident.

Pearts also replaces batteries in watches. The cheapest and easiest way to get batteries replaced in Launceston.

And probably in Devonport too!

The really embaressing thing is that I went to the chickenfeed in that same street to try and find watch batteries last time my watch died. If only I'd looked all the way to the end.

I thought Pearts was a one-off - but maybe there are shops all over the place. You never know where they might be hiding.

Now - if only I could stumble accross an EB in Devonport....

Battern down the hatches - close the blast doors - raise the shields!

My house is about to be invaded.

Turkeybrain and 3 of his mates are coming up from Hobart on Wednesday to stay for the rest of the week. Why? Well - Turkey enjoys coming to my house so much that he's told his friends and they want to come too.

So prepare for a half-week LAN.

Pity I still have to go to work - otherwise it would be perfect.

Well - it's THAT Friday again. Uni Results day.

Not that it matters to me personally anymore - but I still have family in Uni.

And all three (Emma, Klutz, and Mum) have passed. No failures in our family!

That said - Mum's results were disapointingly low given her track-record. But at least she didn't flunk out completely.

Mum and Emma have now finished Uni and will graduate.
Klutz still has 2 years to go.

So congrats to you all!

Yes - the bear is a gift to my sister to help her celebrate. Mum's bought herself a car - so she doesn't need one.

Mum's Racing Stripes

Mum bought herself a new car as a graduation present! Well - a nearly-graduation present. She hasn't gotten her results yet - but it's pretty safe to say she'll have HDs in everything again (showoff).

The car is pretty impressive for a small car. It's a Ford Fiesta XR4 - with racing stripes! Mum was tossing up between this and a Focus - and ended up getting this one (cheaper). Still - apart from work cars, this is the most impressive car our family has ever owned.

I haven't even had a ride in it yet, let alone a chance to drive it - but Dad says it goes pretty well. It's a huge improvement over Mum's Sinata (which was hopeless to drive or ride in).

It might not be as cool as a Focus - but it's not too bad.

The car happened to be part of a special deal at the car yard, and came with a brand new large plasma TV! Dad's been talking about getting a new TV, so this seemed like a great idea.

Unfourtuantly, racing stripes are great on cars - but not on TVs.

We're not sure what's wrong with the TV - but it's got these two black lines running up the screen. Dad's going to take it back and get it fixed/swapped.

So that's the news.
