What a week - it's been flat out. I have managed a single night at home this week!

Anyway - yesterday I had the day off from work - because my Grandma was getting married.

She married a Kiwi guy called Pete - but dont hold that against him, he's actually a really nice bloke.

So this post is for some of the obligitory photos from the wedding.

The priest tied their hands together. Probably to stop them escaping...

After the wedding itself, and the reception, I caught up with some of my cousins. The Dilger girls, Mike and Gabi, and even Klutz.

Klutz looks like a Beatle these days.

Anyone who has been following my blog for a while will know that at the start of each year, I go Dakar crazy.

The Dakar Rally is an awesome event. The single biggest sporting event of any year. Couldnt care less about Footy Grand Final or the Olympics - its the Dakar that takes the crown.

It's called the Dakar rally because it normally ends in the city of Dakar (Half wayish down the West Coast of Africa). Not always - sometimes it's gone all the way to Cape Town, and other times it's gone in reverse and finished in Paris.

But it's always been an African rally.

No longer.

This year the Rally was canceled. There were security concerns, and they canned the whole thing. Highly dissapointing. Starts the whole year on a down note.

But now there is some new news. The Dakar will be back next year - but it wont be going to Dakar.

It wont even be in Africa anymore.

The great African Rally will now be held in South America.

I'm not sure what I think about that. I'm glad it's not all over - but at the same time I'm worried that the spirit of the rally is all over.

We'll have to wait and see how it goes I guess.

P.S. Yes, the picture above was from Africa - stop picking nits...

It was my birthday 2 days ago. It was Klutz's birthday yesterday. And now it's Trojen's birthday. 3 geeks in a row.

Happy Birthday mate!

And yes, I do realise it's an old photo - but thats ok. Serves him right for borrowing the Online Access Centre's camera and then forgetting to erase the photos before he returned it!

Well - it was my birthday yesterday.

I think this is the first time I've had a real birthday when I wasnt living at home (parents place). I had one last year of course, but it was on a weekend, so I was at home anyway.

Felt a little odd to be getting up and ready for work and things on my own on my birthday. It's normally been a family thing with special breakfasts and presents and things.

I did get some nice SMSs and things saying Happy Birthday. Trojen even woke me up with one - he's an early riser these days.

At work I took some morning tea. It's the tradition at work that whoever is having a birthday brings stuff to share. I took some of mum's cooking, and some supermarket stuff. I didnt cook any of it myself, but apparently I've rased the bar on how extravagent the morning tea should be.

Then after work, I went back to my parents place for tea.

Klutz came along with his girlfriend Amanda, and we had a sort of joint celebration (his birthday is the day following mine).

Klutz gave me a shot glass that says "geek" and I gave him a container of salt (among other things). If you know Klutz, you'll understand.

We watched the movie "Shoot Em Up" which looked really good in the trailers. The actual movie was pretty stupid though. One guy killing lots of others using guns, carrots, and combinations of guns and carrots.

But I had a good day - and thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.

And Happy Birthday today to Klutz! (May 28)
