Happy New Year!

Well - time to say goodbye to another year, and celebrate the start of another.

Or at least celebrate the start of the Dakar Rally (starts on the 1st).

So in the celebratory spirit - here are a couple of presents for you all.

I went into town yesterday to buy some CDs I didn’t get for Christmas (lol) but the shop only had the Kasey Chambers one, so I’ve ordered the other two in. I know some of my readers don’t think much of Kasey, but here’s some music you probably haven't heard before.

Boy & Bear - Rabbit Song

Also known as the whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo band, because they do a lot of that. The song’s cool- and the filmclip is awesome (but very simple).

Ok - this one is fantastic. The Boy & Bear one above is good, but this one is brilliant. The song is just awesome, and so is the filmclip in an odd sort of way.

Might not appeal to everyone’s taste in music - but I think it’s great.

So there you have it - two Australian bands you’ve probably never heard of. I wouldn’t have either, except they were both supporting Lisa Mitchell in her tour. Go Aussie music! I just wish the local radio station would play some of this stuff instead of the imported pop junk they play. Sadly the radio won’t pick up Triple-J anymore.

Can’t get enough of ‘Times Fly’ though.

And for anyone who is interested in Kasey Chamber's latest song:

They redid part of the building, and now I can't pick it up anymore. Well - I can, but it's more static than station.

Triple J often plays bands like Boy and Bear. Not sure I've come across Georgia Fair there though. It's nice that there is actually a radio station that will focus on up and coming Australian artists, rather than the "pop" junk that comes out of the US from cashed up children. I'm looking at you, Justin Beiber, Willow Smith, et al.
