Ok - first up, let me just say that The Ark of Truth was good. Great even. But I wouldnt go so far as to say it was Brilliant.

You see - it was like a really good episode of Stargate, which is fantastic, but it wasnt a huge step up to a totally new level, which some people were hoping for considering the larger budget and things.

This isnt Serenity - but it's still a good movie. And finally wraps up the Ori storyline.

Although apparently if you look closely enough you can see the code that controls the Replicators - and it's Javascript! Just change internet browsers, and there's a pretty good chance all the Replicators will break down. Pity they never tried that.

Anyway - the reason for the picture and the title is that I'm working from home tonight. Just moving a virtual server to a new physical host. I had to go in to work as the last people were leaving to move a physical cable - but the rest could be done from home.

That's all done now - but unfourtuantly we've just discovered that our major server has died AGAIN. It did it a bit over a month ago, and we got it going after over 24 hours of work. This time we have a bit better idea - but it could still mean a long night for someone. So far they havent wanted my help - but I'm sitting besides the phone just in case.

You might notice the tiny laptop in the photo (its soo awesome and tiny) - that's because we cant connect personal computers to the work network, in case we introduce a virus or something, so we have to use work computers. Everyone's fighting over this laptop at work at the moment - it's really cool. It's a HP 2510p, and has a 12 inch widescreen display - which is rather trippy.

Anyway - let you know how the server recovery goes tomorrow.

A HP, hey? They are really nice. This new one we have then is a cousin.

Yeah - I like HP stuff.

Of all the major brands (Dell, HP, IBM, Acer, etc) I prefer HP. For servers I might prefer IBM, but for normal computers HP is the best I've come across.

Unless you want to build you own, like I do.

Good news too - Andrew got the server going overnight, so we're working today. We will still probably be swapping hardware tonight to prevent it happening again though.

Server breaks are bad. Very bad. They're even worse when it basically puts your company out of action until it's back up. Good to see that it's back up and running again though. A bit of work on the server would perhaps not go astray.

And HP stuff is generally pretty good. I know somebody with an HP lappy and it seems pretty good to me. Mind you, my brother's Dell is quite reasonable as well. It's especially reasonable now it's been upgraded to XP from Vista. We're both much happier with it now. Vista sucks, and because he only had a home version, he couldn't do things like get onto domains or connect to more than 5 computers at a time. Pretty annoying when he wants to connect it to some massive networks and use the network resources!

Ah well, XP Pro has sorted the problems out mostly. Much nicer to use too. Runs VERY fast too...

I dunno, Turkeybrain... Vistas pretty good, and he probably could have done that stuff if he upgraded his Vista version. I havent used XP though, so I wont be too critical of it. If it works for him, it works for him. You should always go fo what suits you best, software or computer. If XP suits someone best, that person should go for it. If a Mac suits you best... well, I will make just one exception.

Sorry to correct you Oblivion, but you have used XP. Your old laptop was running Windows XP.

Personally - I havent used Vista for more than a few minutes. My computer wont handle it properly - so I havent even tried. I'm getting it for my new computer though.

I think it's almost certainly got some problems - but I dont think it would be as bad as all the nay-sayers are saying. I will say that Turkey's brother had legitimate reasons for not liking it. He had Home Premium (I think) which dosnt have the networking support for large networks (neither did XP Home) which he needs at uni. Large networks really need either XP Pro or Vista Business/Ultimate.
