C&C3 VS SupComAuthor: jawapro

Well - the post you´ve all been waiting for...
My verdict about which is better -
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars or
Supreme Commander.
Well - firstly - the box.
The collector´s edition of SupCom comes in a tin box with LOADS of extras. 3 posters, 3 faction cards, a badge, an extra DVD, a galaxy map, and the game itself.
On the other hand - C&C3: Kane Edition comes in a standard DVD case with the DVD disc, an extra CD, and a thin manual. That´s it.
So it definatly loses out in the extras race.
But as far as the game play?
Well - C&C plays very nicely on my machine - while SupCom staggers once you get a couple of units running around.
My system isnt exactly very flash anymore - and it freezes every now and then (not due to either game) but C&C definatly plays better.
Both games suffer from the sort of graphics that can make battles too confused to have any idea what´s happening. Once the rockets and explosions start - you cant really see much until it clears and you see who survived. That annoys me a bit.
And SupCom has the extrememly awesome zoom facility. It´s incredibly usefull - and I expect most future RTS games will include it. Finally we can get away from the aweful
too close zoom level of some games - such as Warcraft 3.
The story?
Well - I havent gotten all that far in either yet - but I think it´s safe to say that C&C has that one in the bag too. The SupCom one seems much better than it´s predecessor TA - but it´s not really a story driven game.
C&C has a long history of fun and deep stories (for an RTS anyway). And this one looks like improving on that.
Movies.
Both games have cutscenes between movies. And they are NOT the stupid sort of ingame movies that Warcraft 3 and Generals and many other games make us suffer through.
In Supcom the movies are computer generated and quite awesome.
C&C continues the famous legacy of using real actors and video in their movies.
And it works well - so I´d definatly saying C&C´s movies are better. Even if they are a little corny.
And hey - they have actors from shows like BattleStar Galactica (new), LOST, House, and Lando from Star Wars. That´d be an impressive cast list for any movie or show - let alone a computer game!
The C&C series has always known how to do good cutscenes. And that´s one thing I´ve always supported them for. The only other game that seems to do good cutscenes was the Wing Commander series.
Anyway - these are both excellent games - and I´m happy to own them. Even if it did set me back about $200 all up. I own the collectors editions - so I´m happy.
But if you asked me - I wouldn´t hesitate to say that C&C3 is my favorite of the two.
Shame about the lack of a box though...
