That’s my name badge after I modified it. The dude with the beard and glasses is my Sig-fig. A sig-fig is a Lego man (minifig) who represents you. In this case, the guy looks a lot like me - but some people choose figures that represent their personality etc. The orange guy is just along for the ride.

Also in the photo are the castle minifigs I ended up with in the Dirty Brickster game (see below). Sweet eh?

Ok - so time for more photos. As there are hundreds of them - I have put them in a semi-temporary PHP gallery. At least until I get around to writing my own.

Please take a look - there are some insanely good models on there.

Here are a few photos for those people too lazy to make the jump.

There were heaps of spaceships, including a few large ones. This one in particular took my fancy.

See all those domes on the back?

Fighter craft! It carries 20 detachable fighters!

Take a look at the gallery for the other spaceships.

This was epic castle was called ‘The White Tower’. It was awesome and had detailed interiors etc. But the owner decided to dismantle it when he packed it up. As I left, it was being broken down block by block. Almost enough to break your heart. I just hope he builds something else by next year.

One of the smaller sets - this is a Steam-punk R2D2!

Richard and Aaron brought along some modular houses. These all clip together to make a street. The closest one is an official lego set, but the others are MOCs. Seeing the effort they put in and listening to the stories they had developed about all the different furniture and minifigs etc was great. Enough to make me want to build some now.

The winner of the ‘Best in show’. This Airbus A380 was fantastic. Until the batteries ran out, it had working landing gear, engines etc too.

 Image

It was only half a plane - the other side was cross section of the interior.

Darth Vader always flies first class.

Snakes on a plane - and Samuel Jackson!

The whole Brickvention was awesome. Can’t wait for next year now.

Oh yeah. I had a very small spaceship on display, and I just realized I’ve never released it to my blog. It’s in 2 of the photos in the gallery - see if you can spot it? I’ll post about it sometime.

Hmm, quad post. Nice work! As such, I'll just go here for my comments on the whole lot... No real point in spreading it around!

So, considering it's a 2 day expo, and only the second day is public, how did you get in to the first day? Do you have to be a member of a particular club, or did you just register for it somewhere?

Some of those things are awesome. I'm a big fan of the A380 and the castle, I must say. While I don't have Lego as one of my hobbies (I guess it's a money and patience thing), I really can appreciate some of the time, effort and skills that go into that sort of thing. Very awesome.

Some of the stuff in the gallery is pretty impressive too! Must have been an awesome convention!

Also, considering your spaceship is in two of the however many photos in the gallery, there is no way I'm going to be able to spot it, even if I've seen it in my trips up to your place in recent times! I suspect I know which one you're on about, but I haven't seen it yet!

I guess it's a quad post if you include the brief one I did while I was in Melbourne.

I think I might sort of be an unoffical member of the Tasmanian Lego Users Group - but I'm not sure. Basically you just register for the convention and attend. If you're free next year, I might invite you just to help with the photography. Sure you'd enjoy the convention side of things too - it's a lot of light-hearted fun.

I was indeed including the Melbourne post...

I'm also very glad you didn't use the LUG acronym for the group. I'd have died with confusion on that one! But yeah, the convention looks good, so I might well come along to help with some photography. Looks like a bit of fun and some very talented people!

I'm based in Hobart and very keen to put a large display of lego together for an upcoming event being conducted in March.

Since I am on the organising committee I thought I would at least give you the option of being included as I am trying to build up a healthy number of participants as well as establish a Tasmanian Lego Collectors Club too.

The photos of Brickvention 2010 look great....Brent

P.S, I accept this may be considered as advertising but I feel its worth a try.

Lol - I hope next year, there'll be more displays, more room and maybe less people. Or even more room. Regardless, I look forward to next year's Brickvention. I might even enter something...
