Run for the hills!Author: jawapro

That’s a photo that would worry a lot of my friends (and my parents).
Not because I look like an idiot - or a half mad axe murder who has upgraded to a circular saw.
The reason it’s worrying is that it’s me - with a power tool.
Which means I’m planning on building something.
That’s enough to send my friends running for the hills and wondering what’s wrong with me.
You see - I’m not the sort of practical person who builds things. I never really have been - regardless of my Dad’s influence (he’s the sort of person who does).
Over the last 2 weekends, I bought myself a Circular Saw, a Jigsaw, and some building materials. (Jigsaw as in the power tool, not a puzzle - although I think it puzzled my parents.)
My track record of building things doesn’t really extend much beyond my recent LAN Box - which Dad helped a lot with (although I designed it).
So why am I doing it? I’ve got a spare room that badly needs some shelves, a computer room that needs a network cabinet, and a Mac that needs tossing - so I want to start building stuff. Plus - I've been watching a lot of Scrap Heap Challenge - and that's probably given me the bug to build.
Unfortunately the building materials were being carted home on top of a trailer load of tree clippings from Terreth’s, and fell off as we were almost home. I was traveling behind in my car and had caught a lot of lights which Dad (and the trailer) had missed, so I was a fair way behind, and when I caught up, Mum was standing on the trailer trying to hold the stuff on while Dad drove off the bridge where they’d fallen off.
So now the melamim (which I can’t spell - the white stuff you build shelves out of) looks pretty scratched and messed-up, but as Dad said - if it’s me whose building something, it would probably look pretty shabby anyway. At least until I get some practice.
I also finally got myself a mower - so I can tame some of the jungle in my yard. I think I actually used to have a path leading to the washing line somewhere in there…..
So stay tuned. If the building projects turn out ok - there will be pictures. If not - well, there will probably still be pictures.
