Starcraft Nights

Aside from watching Scrapheap challenge every evening (ABC2 6:35-7:30) the other thing I've been doing a lot of this week is playing Starcraft. Yep, blame Starcraft for the lack of posts this week (and for the 3 in a row to catch up).

Starcraft 2 is being release soon - so I decided I wanted to finish the original before it comes out. So that's what I've been working on. Currently on the last phase - the Zerg missions in Brood Wars (the expansion pack).

It's not a bad game. It's still not one of my favorites, but it's worth playing. Sometimes I end up playing something I dont really enjoy just to see how the story ends - but this one has a decentish story and some good gameplay, so it's quite enjoyable.

But it IS a game from 1998. That's old in computer game terms. If it were a movie, it would probably still be black and white etc.

It's not exactly taxing the awesome power of Phaeton - lets put it that way.

And contry to what Martha seems to think - I dont spend my evenings ball-room dancing with my computers (she's a American and has some rather odd ideas sometimes) - I spend my evenings taking war to the insidious Zerg! Remember Tassadar!

Oh come on - you took that totally out of context. Still, I maintain that it would look funny. And there are parallels... the computer is your partner for the evening, you stare into the screen transfixed by the computer's wonderful qualities, you try to move strategically and not step on the computer's toes, so to speak, lest it shut down on you. The analogy works, even if it wasn't meant to be an analogy. It was a joke - though (as I admitted) it was a goofy one.

Trust a Tasmaniac to think he can be a judge of odd ideas. Being born with two heads, the Taswegian embodies oddity and therefore would be prone to see normal as odd and vice versa, right? ;)

There's nothing wrong with having a "date" with your computer.  Maybe it's an American thing.  I'm glad you're enjoying a good old game.

My current computer Phaeton is definatly not female - so I definatly don't date it. My previous one, Jade's_Fire was basically gender netural - it was named after a starship after all.

My laptop, Jade, is female, and my media server, Mara is too. Karlendorf/Silas is male. Gonzo's a bloke too - even though he used to be Trinity (female) when Trojen owned him.

Voyager is my old laptop - and another bloke.

Drongo is a spare pc, and yet another bloke.

My parent's computers Fred and Jimmy are both blokes too, and I think Dad's laptop is called Henry. Not sure about my sister's laptop (Loopy) though - that could go either way.

Phaeton and I might be comrades in arms etc - but dancing and dating is certainly not what we do.
